Homeownership is a big part of The American Dream. At Knoxville Habitat for Humanity, we are a proud partner with individuals and families who are living in substandard housing conditions who want a safe and comfortable place to call home.
Every two years, a group of local women bands together to raise the funds to build a house. All of the volunteers for the house consist of women as well. To visit the Women Build website, click here
Work Groups
If you have a group of people who would volunteer together, we have several opportunities available, either working on the construction site or doing work in our warehouse area. Please contact our volunteer coordinator at 865-523-3539 to inquire about specific opportunities.
AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps is an opportunity to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of those around you. It’s a chance to apply your skills and ideals toward helping others and meeting critical needs in the community.
Each year, AmeriCorps offers 75,000 opportunities for adults of all ages and backgrounds to serve through a network of partnerships with local and national nonprofit groups. Habitat for Humanity is one of these partnerships. AmeriCorps volunteers receive a small stipend for their work, which is a one-year commitment to Knoxville Habitat for Humanity. For more information, visit the AmeriCorps website.
Global Village Trips
Just about every other year, Knoxville Habitat for Humanity and a group of staff and volunteers plan a Global Village Trip to contribute to Habitat’s mission around the world. On these trips, the volunteers typically build housing in less developed countries where housing is a critical need.
Thrift Store / ReStore
The Thrift Store and ReStore are dependent on responsible volunteers in order to operate. Volunteers at the store typically run the cash register and answer incoming phone calls to schedule donation pick-ups. We can also use help with light cleaning, sorting and displaying merchandise and clothing, as well as stocking shelves.
We usually schedule volunteers in four-hour shifts (9:30-1:30, 1:30-5:30), but this is not set in stone. We are always seeking new volunteers to assist us (volunteers must be at least 18 years old). Our business hours are 9:30-5:30 M-F and 9:30-4:30 Sat. Please feel free to call 865-521-4909 to discuss what opportunities might best fit you.
