Frequently Asked Questions - Donation FAQ's

We are supported through a variety of sources:  individual donations, private foundations,  corporate and faith partners, as well as government grants. Each of these funding sources plays an important role in the ongoing success of our mission, both through monetary donations and in-kind donations of products and services.

Generally, contributions of money and in-kind products to registered 501 (c)(3) organizations are tax deductible. However, because of the uniqueness of our organization, in-kind donations of services are typically not deductible.  Please consult your tax adviser for complete details before you deduct a donation to Knoxville Habitat for Humanity.

Absolutely. We use a secure server to collect and process your credit card or debit card transaction.  We will only charge your credit card or debit your bank card for the amount you authorize.

Your donation will support Knoxville Habitat for Humanity’s mission of creating simple, decent and affordable housing in Knox County, Tennessee. Depending upon the type of donation you make, you can designate the manner in which your donation will be used to accomplish the mission. Or, you can make an unrestricted donation so that we can use the money in the way we best see fit in order to accomplish the mission.

In-kind contributions primarily include items or products that are provided free of charge or at a substantial discount to Knoxville Habitat for Humanity so that we can stretch our resources farther. Since we are a registered 501 (c)(3) organization, the fair market value of such donations is tax deductible. However, you should talk with your tax professional to learn how to best determine the fair market value of your donation.
